The Hague Institute for Geopolitics
Our mission is to better anchor the Netherlands and Europe in the new world order. The Hague Institute for Geopolitics prepares policymakers, businesses, and citizens for the far-reaching consequences of the fragmenting world order.
We do this through 1) the GeopolitiekNu podcast, 2) regional updates & in-depth analyses of the most important geopolitical epicenters, and 3) customized masterclasses and lectures. Be sure to read our interviews with politicians, policymakers, and experts.

Why does The Hague Institute for Geopolitics exist?
Economic and public administration experts Michel Don Michaloliákos and Rajeev Lachmipersad launched the GeopolitiekNu podcast in September 2022. The goal was to thoroughly analyze global developments using in-depth regional knowledge and insights from economics and public administration. Existing analyses too often portrayed countries as unitary actors, a recipe for analytical and policy errors, and irresponsible now that policymakers need concrete action perspectives.
Since then, the GeopolitiekNu podcast has grown into Haagsch Instituut GeopolitiekNu and now also The Hague Institute for Geopolitics (HIG), where we produce articles, masterclasses, and lectures. Our target audience is primarily policymakers, experts, and journalists.
A knowledge institute is never built alone, but in a growing team. The Hague Institute for Geopolitics has been strengthened by our analysts Casper Wits, Remco Breuker, Damon Golriz, Brecht Weerheijm, and Jelle van der Wal.
Our three core values
Our core values guide The Hague Institute for Geopolitics. We are guided first and foremost by a deep-seated love for the Netherlands, Europe, and of course, knowledge. Furthermore, we strongly value intellectual integrity. We remain true to the truth, our conscience, and honesty in our thinking, analyses, and communication, without giving in to personal interests or external pressure. Finally, we stand for courage in our thinking, actions, and advice. After all, the groundbreaking nature of courage is crucial for better anchoring the Netherlands and Europe in the new world order.
