Lecture: The Geopolitics of Geography

Antonio Gamelkoorn

In Summary

It is no coincidence that “geo” is part of “geopolitics”. In fact, geography is the mother of geopolitics. In order to create and strengthen “strategic depth” and “strategic autonomy”, leaders have analysed the limitations and opportunities that geography imposed on their empires and regimes since the earliest civilisations. In this highly interesting, interactive and, above all, enjoyable lecture for geography students, our analysts Lachmipersad and Michaloliákos shared their views on the role of geography in geopolitics.

They also called on students to become more involved in the geopolitical debate, in which geography plays such an important role.
