The Amsterdam University of Applied Sciences organised an interesting and interactive debate on the US election results. Michel Michaloliákos debated with renowned America expert Frans Verhagen, after which there was plenty of time for questions from the audience on this topical issue with major consequences for Europe. The students showed themselves to be very aware of this.

“As a superpower, the US is dependent on its network of allies, who have placed it on the geopolitical throne: economically, monetarily, industrially and militarily. Trump’s unreliability and transactional behaviour threaten to destroy this. The US will pay a high price for this. Europe will have to stand on its own two feet more quickly and guarantee the security and support of Ukraine,” Michaloliákos summarises the contribution well.
