In het kort

On February 26th, HIG was kindly invited by the Embassy of Panama to provide a tailored masterclass on the fundamentals of Dutch governance to the ambassadors of GRULAC countries in The Hague. The focus of the masterclass was to provide in-depth insight into Dutch politics, break down and explain the composition of the new Dutch government, and provide a better understanding of the Dutch/EU geopolitical position. In providing this information, the aim is also to highlight points where Dutch/EU-GRULAC ties can be strengthened.

This masterclass was built and delivered by Michel Don Michaloliákos and Rajeev Lachmipersad who utilised their expertise on Dutch governance and the Dutch/EU geopolitical landscape to provide valuable insights. Their expertise is complemented by utilising their network of contacts in the policy field to help them navigate the intricacies of niche topics to strengthen their analysis.

The masterclass was interactive and dynamic which paved the way for valuable questions and fruitful discussions. Some questions raised addressed the EU-MERCOSUR Free Trade Agreement, bilateral relations with the Netherlands, and concerns about the position and stability of the new Dutch government, which our experts were able to answer directly and honestly based on their knowledge of the situation. We would like to thank the attendees for their active participation and genuine interest.

The Ambassador of Panama and her colleagues expressed sincere thanks for the masterclass and were happy with its success, sharing that the other GRULAC ambassadors found it insightful and it greatly enhanced their understanding of Dutch politics.

We would like to extend our gratitude to Ambassador H.E. Sally Loo Hui and Eduardo Carreño for the invitation and for hosting us at the Embassy of Panama. We look forward to further collaboration in the future!
